Let's hope Redman can go 7 or 8 tomorrow against the immortal Oliver Perez.
There's no reason you shouldn't be able to throw strikes while up six runs. Soriano finally had to come in to shut it down after McBride walked three and Paronto walked two more.
Starting the season with a three-game sweep on the road is about as good as you can get in terms of results, but how they did it still leaves a bit to be desired, and they can't afford crappy bullpen work against the Mets this weekend.
But we'll take it.

Wow, by the way "you'll" take it you would think the Braves had swept the defending World Series Champions by a combined 3-game score of 20-2, and where the bullpen didn't give up a single run.
Hence the comment about not being able to afford the same bullpen efforts this weekend.....
And Oliver Perez is still Oliver Perez.
A win is a win is a win. I'm not too worried about giving up a couple of runs with a 6 run lead. The Braves may not be as good as the Mets. But they are going to keep it interesting this year!

Yeah, there's no way he can match up with the likes of "All Star" Mark Redman. He just scares the living hell out of me that guy does.
I'd rather have the guy who could put up a winning record with the Royals, of all teams, than a guy who managed to fail in San Diego, the best pitchers' park in the majors.
I'm not saying Mark Redman's a world-beater, but Oliver Perez is awful, whether in Pittsburgh or New York. At least, I've heard 1-3 with a 6+ ERA in NY is generally bad.
Yes, I would rather have the 12-11 pitcher than the 3-13 pitcher. Generally, that's an easy decision.
Umm, Perez was a Padre in 2003, I believe before Petco was built. He was in Pittsburgh in 2004, where he proceeded to have a sub 3 ERA and strikeout like 230 batters in 170 innings. I don't think Redman has struck out 230 batters in his career.
Perez has been ineffective since then, but for those of us who deem winning percentage to be one of the most utterly useless guages to determining a pitcher's value, I'll take the guy who can strike out more than one batter per game.
Also, there's a reason Redman is starting for his sixth team in six years, and it ain't because MLB teams are just jumping all over themselves to wind up with his oh so valuable service.
