Congratulations to the Hartford Whalers on their first Stanley Cup.
Wait...they're WHERE? Raleigh, NC? You're kidding, right? Afraid not. For the second consecutive season, the Stanley Cup Champion is from a city that sees almost no snow whatsoever.
Aside from that, I don't really have an opinion. My interest pretty much disappeared when the Thrashers didn't make the playoffs, and even so I was more psyched about the NBA playoffs than hockey playoffs.
Even so, these guys are pretty deserving of some kudos for a dominant regular season and the guts to go through such a grind in the playoffs, climaxing with a great Game 7 win with everything on the line.
So with that said, congratulations on the win....
and more kudos for beginning the celebration in the most apropos way imaginable.
It IS a cup, after all.
