$8 million for Glavine to return to Atlanta in 2008.
I don't care if it's $5 million less than what he would have gotten as a Met, it's still too much.
And, of course, the article has the obligatory "Mike Hampton may return next year" line that's caused me to throw things at walls.
Ugh.

Yeah, I knew this one would irk you. Now all we need is Hampton to come back and redeem himself this year. Heck, you had all-but-given up on Hudson this time last year and he did it. It's possible! ;-)
I'm fine with it. He can't be worse than the Mark Redmans and JoJo Reyes who pitched in the 4th and 5th spot last year. As much as I dogged Tom for going to New York, he had a decent run there, especially when you take away the first year or so. Glavine will tire down the stretch but why the hell not for 1 year, $8 mill? Sadly that's not much in this market. And no long-term commitment either.
At least the Braves got away with giving him $5 mill less than Smoltz (deserved) and $2 mill less than Maddux (over-paid). Look at it like that. Welcome home, Tommy! Just leave the "boo-boo" face in New York, ok?!?
